BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. Production in Iran's Persian Gulf Mining and Metals Special Economic Zone increased by 9 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Trend reports.
According to the information, last year's production of Iran's Special Economic Zone for Mining and Metallurgy Industries in the Persian Gulf amounted to 9.6 million tons.
However, the zone produced 8.91 million tons in the previous year.
The zone produced iron ore pellets, sponge iron, various steel products, zinc, aluminum, etc.
A total of 4.08 million tons of products worth $1.7 billion were produced in the zone last year.
To note, the Persian Gulf Mining and Metallurgy Special Economic Zone is located in Hormuzgan province in the south of Iran. Iran is trying to attract investors to this zone by creating various opportunities there. So, soon, this zone can become one of the main export destinations of Iran's mining and metallurgical industries.
