Iran reveals volume of housing and construction loans

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22. Iranian banks extended loans worth 2.6 quadrillion rials (about $62 billion) in the housing and construction sector in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), the statistics of Iran's Central Bank said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, during the mentioned period, loans worth 1.5 quadrillion rials (about $35.8 billion) were issued for construction works in the housing and construction sectors.

Statistics show that Iranian banks extended loans worth 941 trillion rials (about $22.4 billion) as working capital in the housing and construction sector last year.

The information indicates that during the mentioned period, 84.2 trillion rials (about $2 billion) were spent on development works in the housing and construction sector, while 57.2 trillion rials (about $1.36 billion) were spent on purchasing homes in the housing and construction sector.

The report added that last year, Iranian banks extended loans worth 13.4 trillion rials (about $320 million) for personal assets, 2.39 trillion rials (about $57 million) for renovations in the housing and construction sectors, and 2.07 trillion rials (about $49.3 million) for self-employment.

To note, Iranian banks issued loans worth 46.1 quadrillion rials (about $1.01 trillion) last year.
