Iran's inflation rate rises

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 23. The inter-point inflation in Iran increased by 30.9 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2024) compared to the same month of last year, the reports of Iran's Statistical Center said, Trend reports.

According to the report, families in Iran spent an average of 30.9 percent more on a range of goods and services in the first month.

Meanwhile, inter-point inflation is the percentage change in the number in the price index compared to the same period last year.

The report shows that the price index in the first month was 236.3.

The information indicates that inflation in the first month amounted to 23.8 percent in the beverages and tobacco group and 34.8 percent in non-food goods and services.

The report added that the inter-point inflation in the first month was 31.5 percent in urban areas and 27.5 percent in rural areas.

Monthly inflation in the country rose by 0.6 percent in the 1st month compared to the 12th month of last year (from February 20 through March 19, 2024) to 2.6 percent.

Monthly inflation is the percentage change in the number of price indexes compared to the previous month.

During the first month, monthly inflation was 2.5 percent in urban areas and 3.1 percent in villages.

To note, the report indicates that at the end of the first month annual inflation (from April 21, 2023, through April 20, 2024), decreased by 1.9 percent from the previous period (April 21, 2022, through April 20, 2023) to 38.8 percent.

Annual inflation denotes the average percentage change in price index indicators over the last year.

However, according to the report, the annual inflation rate was 38.9 percent in Iranian cities and 38 percent in rural areas at the end of the first month.
