New fuel has been delivered to Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant at Bushehr province in southern Iran on April 29, Trend reports citing Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

According to the report, the new fuel was supplied in the framework of cooperation between AEOI and Russian State Atomiс Energy Corporation (Rosatom).

"This fuel will be used at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant on the basis of an annual fuel change program," report said.

The plant will be able to generate 1,000 megawatts of electricity per year to be transferred to the Iranian network, the company said.

"Nuclear cooperation between Iran and Russia continues despite the restrictions introduced due to the coronavirus spread, while all health protocols are observed," the report said.

Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant stopped operations on April 12 to change nuclear fuel.

Electricity produced at the 1st power unit of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran began to be delivered to the Iranian electricity grid on Sep. 3, 2011.

Since its commissioning, the first power unit of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant has generated about 43 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, which were handed over to the country's electricity grid.
