Iranian police chief, Esmaeil Ahmadi Moghadam said the growing terrorism tendencies in neighboring countries could pose a challenge to Iran's security.
However, Ahmadi Moghadam said Tehran managed to significantly increase its border security in the past decade, the Fars news agency reported Oct. 7.
"The threats are increasing year by year, but the country's security is also improving," he added.
"Currently the number of unsafe regions in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan is increasing," Ahmadi Moghadam noted.
The police chief also referred to drug trafficking as another threat to Iran's security.
