Iran says prevented genocide in Syria, backing legal government

Iran prevented from happening genocide in Syria and Iraq by backing legal governments, secretary of Iran 's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said.
Referring to terrorist actions in the region, which are sponsored by "certain governments", he criticized the UN for being reticent and inattentive toward illegitimate military operations against Muslims, especially in Yemen and Palestine, Iran 's IRNA News agency reported Oct. 13.
Shamkhani made the statement in a meeting with UN Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson.
He added that Iran makes continuous efforts and uses all its capacities to establish ceasefire in Syria. In this line, Iran will make use of its experiences in cooperation with the UN, he said.
At the outset of the crisis in Syria, Iran put emphasis on avoiding military operations and instead of that benefiting from dialogue, he noted.
