Tehran says the Islamic Republic will vigorously continue its missile program and the country will not allow the foreigners to interfere in its defense affairs.
Ali Akbar Velayati, a top adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has said that the missile tests that the country has conducted, are for defensive purposes and the Islamic Republic will not take any notice of threats issued by the US, Tabnak news website reported on Feb. 2.
Saying that Iran is a “regional superpower”, Velayati added that the Islamic Republic enjoys diplomatic and economic capacities.
He further added that the US must be held accountable for its measures on issuing threats and breaking promises.
The US has said that the White House put Iran "on notice" on Wednesday for test-firing a ballistic missile.
