President Aliyev approves Azerbaijani-Iranian agreements
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev approved the agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Iran for cooperation in the use of water resources and continuation of construction and operation of the Khudaferin and Giz Galasi hydroelectric facilities on the Araz River.
The president also approved the “Framework Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the coordination of railways of Azerbaijan and Iran.”
Both agreements were signed Feb. 23, 2016, in Tehran. The agreements were ratified by the Azerbaijani parliament on June 14.
Azerbaijan creates special commission for improving business environment
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on additional measures to improve the country’s business environment and its position in international ratings.
A special commission and a secretariat of the commission has been created in accordance with the decree in order to improve the business and investment environment, increase its attractiveness for local and foreign investors, ensure the sustainability of the recently achieved rapid development in the sphere of entrepreneurship and strengthening the competitiveness, as well as in order to even more improve Azerbaijan’s position in international ratings. Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov has been appointed the commission’s chairman.
