Armenian presidential candidate Aram Hartyunyan has begun the promised hunger strike in front of Armenian Central Election Commission. The hunger strike will last one day- until 17:00 February 8, PanARMENIAN.Net reported.
By this move Aram Harutyunyan encourages other candidates to withdraw their candidacies for the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan to remain the only candidate.
Harutyunyan once more stressed that those who will remain in the election list, "will have nothing to say" after February 18. He also noted that his statement on rejection to the CEC chairman is ready and will be sent tomorrow following completion of hunger strike.
Another Armenian presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan continues the hunger strike near the building of the Armenian parliament announced on January 21, despite ill health. Doctors are on duty at the site of action.
The sixth Armenian presidential election will be held Feb.18 from 08:00 to 20:00 local time. The head of state is elected for five years.
