Some 126 out of 15,904 members of the election commissions failed to appear at the polling stations on the day of the presidential elections in Armenia on the morning of Feb. 18, chairman of the Armenian Central Election Commission Tigran Mukuchyan said, news.am. reported.

The CEC chairman said the chairmen of the election commissions made only eight new appointments because if at least seven members of the commission are present, then the Commission will not be widened. "All commissions are working."

He also stressed that some seven of the 1988 polling stations were formed in penal facilities where voting will begin later than in ordinary polling stations. The voting will begin at 10:00 am in one of them and at 17:00 in others.

The sixth Armenian presidential election will be held Feb.18 from 08:00 to 20:00 local time. The head of state is elected for five years.

Those running for the presidency are the incumbent president and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Grant Bagratyan, chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Arman Melikyan, Andrias Ghukasyan and Vardan Setrakyan.
