Georgia, Tbilisi / Тrend corr N. Kirtskhalia / The acting Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Mikhail Machavariani denied reports of the opposition's suggestions for the Deputy Prime Minister positions in the new Georgian Government. "We have never negotiated with the opposition in this connection," he said to journalists.

Earlier, media reported that in exchange for loyalty the opposition may receive the Deputy Prime Minister positions in the Georgian Government. The reports were flatly denied by the representatives of the Unified Opposition which is negotiating with the authorities.

Machavariani confirmed that consultations with the opposition are still underway in order to bring about stability in the country and prevent civil confrontation. "We are doing our best to provide democratic elections to the Georgian Parliament next spring," he said.

It is worth mentioning that the opposition demands transmission of the Public Television to the public, change of the Central Election Committee's staff, and the position of the Chair of the Control Chamber.
