Georgia, Tbilisi, 19 August / Trend , corr N. Kirtskhlia/ Georgia expects NATO to have clear position on Georgia and Ukraine's becoming members of the Alliance, Ekaterina Tkeshelashvili, Georgian foreign minister said to media prior to her visit to Brussels.

The Foreign Minister will take part in the meeting of the ministers of NATO in Brussels called by the US on the situation in Georgia.

"This is what we expect from NATO, as under such conditions there is a need to define a position of NATO that in spite of the Russian aggression, Georgia will become member of the alliance and in this case one of Russia's goals in this campaign will not be realized," Tkeshelashvili said.

The minister said that consultations will be held with the NATO foreign minister all day long. "We hope that a decision and statement will be adopted in favor of our country as the statement by leaders of a number of states and Alliance members gives optimism," she said.
