Nino Burjanadze's Party Democratic Movement-Unified Georgia expressed suspicion that the current Georgian Government either wants to sell the business of production and bottling of mineral Borjomi water to Russia, like with other strategic objects in Georgia, or to destroy the business, or to lay it up.

"Auctions on the sale of license for production of Borjomi acquires special significance against the backdrop of the problems in Georgian-Russian relations, the military rhetoric, rather high growth rates of direct influence of Russia in the Georgian economy, the irreversible process of transfer of strategic assets to Russian state capital," Nino Burjanadze said in a statement read out by its associates.

Democratic Movement-Unified Georgia Party's representatives warned those who wish to participate in the auction announced by the Economic Development Ministry that Georgian Glass and Mineral Water Company (GG & MWC), which is engaged in extraction and bottling of Borjomi, at the same time possesses the right to sell this water abroad. And if the production, bottling and sale of Borjomi pass to another company, it simply will not be able to sell these products and at least 500 employees will become unemployed.

Auction for sale of license for extraction of mineral water from Borjomi sources will be held in the Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia on March 20. Initial price of the license is $8 million.
