The Georgian Presidential Pardons Commission reviewed the cases of 238 convicts. Members then made recommendations on pardons and reducing sentences, Georgian Public Defender Giorgi Tugushi told journalists after the commission's meeting.
According to the public defender, more recommendations were made this year than in previous years. The commission included women in the pardoning list, but no minors as all the applicants had been convicted of heinous crimes.
"This pardoning mainly includes drug users, patients, people convicted of serious crimes and those who have little time left to serve," he added.
The ombudsman expressed satisfaction with the commission's work and noted that the pardoning list has already been submitted for signing by the president.
