NNSA administrator to visit Georgia

U.S National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) acting administrator Thomas P. D'Agostino will visit Georgia June 13-14.

According to the U.S. embassy, during the visit D'Agostino will meet with the leadership of the Georgian Interior Ministry.

The main topic of negotiations will be improvement of Georgian potential in the Georgian-U.S cooperation in combating nuclear smuggling.

Tom D'Agostino will also familiarize with the facilities in Georgia, funded under the program of nuclear safety.

NNSA and the Border Police of Georgia signed an agreement on implementation of the program on the second line of defense December 6, 2005. Since then, the administration is working closely with the Border and Patrol Police, the Interior Ministry and Customs to provide them with radiation detectors. Trainings are also conducted.
