Batumi to host International Animated Film Festival

The second International Animated Film Festival "Topuz" will be held in the Black Sea city of Batumi Oct.7-10, the Animation Development Fund, which is the organizer of the festival, said.

The second International Animated Film Festival "Topuz" will be held in the Black Sea city of Batumi Oct.7-10, the Animation Development Fund, which is the organizer of the festival, said.

The best animated films from 39 countries worldwide will be presented at the festival.

"The festival aims to promote the animated genre in Georgia and establish new contacts with foreign partners, as well as progress of the Georgian animation worldwide," the Fund said.

The festival includes competitive and awareness programs. Meetings will be held with the authors to share experiences.

Winners of the competitive categories will be determined by an international jury consisting of five men and children's jury consisting of nine persons, as well as the Internet audience.

The festival includes eight nominations: "Grand Prize", "Best Georgian Student Film", "Best Film for Adults", "Best Children's Film", "Best Debut", "Best Series", "Best Experimental Film" and "Best Internet Movie".  

The "Topuz" Festival was established in 2009 in Batumi.
