Georgian military police has arrested three servicemen, the Georgian Defense Ministry told Trend, adding that according to investigation, the reason of the incident at the training center "Krtsanisi" was a violation of safety norms.
At this stage, the issue arose about the criminal responsibility of three individuals responsible for the protection of safety norms.
Chief of Training Course of the National Training Center "Krtsanisi", Chief of Assessment and Training Course of Artillery Units, Colonel Tristan Tkesheliadze, Chief of Fire Position, Colonel Mamuka Pareshishvili and Battery Commander of the First Artillery Brigade, First Lieutenant Malkhaz Kobalia were arrested.
A criminal case has been filed under Article 403, the third part of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 10 years.
The blast at the military base in Krtsanisi killed three and wounded 13 Georgian servicemen, the Georgian Defense Ministry said earlier.
"The blast took place at 11:00 during training of company of the First Artillery Brigade of the Mortar Battalion in the Training Centre "Krtsanisi". The explosion of the 120-millimeter mine took place due to a technical mistake," the statement said.
