Georgia, Tbilisi, Aug. 30 /Trend, N.Kirtskhalia/

Former head of the Georgian Border Police Badri Bitsadze , who was, in his absence, sentenced to 5.5 years in prison for organizing illegal armed groups and resisting police, told the Asaval-Dasavali weekly that he will not surrender to the authorities.

This was Bitsadze's first interview with Georgian press after the court issued a verdict in his case.
The husband of Georgian Ex-Speaker Nino Burjanadze is on the run and hiding abroad.

Bitsadze declares his innocence.

According to him, the court has relied on false charges that were based on the testimony of one individual who he does not even know.

Bitsadze added that President Mikhail Saakashvili personally ordered the Special Forces, which dispersed a National Assembly rally on May 26, to "beat to death Bitsadze and Burjanadze."
