Billionaire and leader of the opposition coalition Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili wants to become prime minister if his coalition wins the parliamentary elections. He made this statement in an interview with Georgia's online edition of 'Free Speech'.
With regard to the posts of parliamentary chairman and Georgian presidential candidate, Mr Ivanishvili believes that it is early to talk about it.
"I can say that I will be prime minister. This issue has been resolved and agreed with my team and political partners and a decision will be made on all other personnel matters later," Mr Ivanishvili said.
In 2013, a new constitution will come into force in Georgia which limits the president's authority and the prime minister will exceed him in political status.
The opposition says that this change is made given that Mikhail Saakashvili will hold this post after his presidential term expires, thus preserving supreme authority in the country.
Parliamentary elections in Georgia will be held in the autumn while presidential elections are in 2013.
