The standards of construction shall be controlled more tightly and there shouldn't be barrack like houses in Tbilisi, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said at an emergency meeting which was attended by Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava and Finance Minister Dmitry Gvindadze.

Saakashvili was speaking in relation to the process of resettlement of flood affected families. Ugulava said by that time 15 families had been provided with alternative accommodation.

The president instructed the minister of finance to at least minimally compensate the expenditure to the affected population in the regions. He also thanked the rescue workers who during the disaster saved the lives of several people.

Earlier Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili ordered the creation of a programme of demolition of the barracks in Tbilisi. He stated this at the site of yesterday's tragedy in Tbilisi, where floods killed five people.

Three of them are a woman with two children who were killed in a barracks which was located on the banks of the river on a Gorgasali blind alley.
