Georgian Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili introduced a new minister of employment on Monday.
Paata Trapaidze will be the head of the new ministry, Merabishvili stated at a public meeting at the Tbilisi district of Gldani.
He is the head of a construction company Caucasus Road Project.
"Trapaidze distinguished himself in this work, providing jobs for tens of thousands of people, and was able to attract investment. He never was a politician. Trapaidze built roads, bridges, tunnels," Merabishvili said.
He said a database of unemployed will be created and statuses will be introduced - unemployed, job seekers, etc.
He stressed that the priority of the new government will be the development of agriculture, the problem of unemployment and access to health care.
"The President of Georgia gave me a commission to develop a program of action during a short time, and I'll be ready to submit the plan to the Parliament of Georgia tonight. We can not waste time, it is necessary to solve the problem of unemployment and poverty," Merabishvili said.
"I intend to fight unemployment as well as was fighting corruption and crime, and primarily intended to determine what type of unemployment exists in Georgia, and we will develop and study the causes of unemployment," Merabishvili said, stressing that any program of the government will be considered through the prism of employment.
The Georgian Parliament will hold an extraordinary meeting this week which will approve the new prime minister and Cabinet of Ministers.
