Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 4 /. Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /
The National Movement of Georgia has issued a demand to the parliamentary majority on proposed constitutional amendments.
The National Movement is ready to support the changes initiated by the majority if the majority will agree on the inclusion of issues related to Georgia's integration into Euro-Atlantic structures in the constitution, David Bakradze said at a briefing on Monday.
He said the party has another initiative on increasing the constitutional quorum up to 3/4. This increase is necessary in order to move on to a normal dialogue and eliminate the "poaching" of one or two deputies by blackmail and pressure.
Bakradze also called on the majority to stop the "witch hunt" and to meet their own obligations.
"The new government can not fulfill promises to the people and talks about some upcoming scheming to overthrow it. I want to reassure them that there are no insidious plans," Bakradze said.
He said the majority's statement suggests that despite the intimidation of and pressure on deputies, they cannot raise a constitutional majority. The second trend became evident - they could not avoid direct pressure.
"Speaking with us in a blackmailing tone and in ultimatum is unacceptable," Bakradze said, noting that such attitudes are why deputies could not gather a constitutional majority.
