Commander of the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Europe, Lieutenant General Richard T. Tryon is on an official visit to Georgia.

On Tuesday, the guest visited the Krtsanisi National Training Centre. The general was received by the first deputy head of the Joint Staff, Brigadier General Vakhtang Kapanadze.

The Georgian Defence Ministry told Trend that senior defence officials were shown the servicemen's training process for the ISAF mission.

Treyon was pleased with the training level of Georgian and American soldiers.

"The visit of the Lieutenant-General is very important," Kapanadze said. "He is an experienced military leader. One of the main objectives of his visit is to see how preparations among the Georgian military and the Americans for the mission in Afghanistan are progressing."

The generals also spoke with Georgian and American instructors who prepare soldiers for a mission. The visitors examined the simulation centre and other infrastructures at the Krtsanisi centre.

Meetings are planned to be held with the Deputy Defence Minister and the leadership of the Joint Staff.
