The price of wheat imported into the country has been increased in Georgia. Head of the Agrokom Company Koki Osipov told media today that the cost of one ton of imported wheat increased by $26 and hit $305 in Poti.

According to Osipov, Georgia obtains around 90 per cent of its grain from Russia where the real wheat harvest was much lower than expected.

"The rise in the price of grain will affect the flour price," Osipov said. "Presumably, the price on a bag of flour will be increased by two lari and its price will stand at 40 lari."

According to Osipov, wheat prices in Georgia could increase again in the winter.
