A two-day conference of the Analytical Center of inter-ethnic cooperation and consultation took place in Tbilisi in the Sheraton Metekhi Palace hotel within the framework of the OSCE chairmanship in Switzerland.

The Ambassador of Switzerland to Georgia Gunther Behler welcomed the conference participants.

The meeting focused on three main issues: an independent judiciary, mechanisms of prevention of torture and crimes based on hatred. It was attended by experts and advocates working in the South Caucasus region.

"It is very important to cooperate with the OSCE for us as for representatives of civil society, because it is the one of the international organizations which has an important mission in establishing of the rule of law," said the manager of the International partnership for Human Rights project organization Simon Papuashvili. "This workshop allows representatives of the civil sector to exchange information about the situation in their countries," he added. "We hope that this meeting will result in recommendations that will be taken into account," Papuashvili concluded.

The participants shared their experiences, opinions and were working in groups for two days.

In 2014, the OSCE has scheduled four regional workshops for civil society - in Belgrade, Vienna, Dushanbe and Tbilisi.
