The U.S. reviews the possibility of supplying defensive weapons to Georgia, the U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said at a briefing in Tbilisi on Sept.7.
During the meeting with Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania, Hagel stressed that the partnership relations have been intensified in this sphere.
"We are preparing for the next steps in this field," he added.
The negotiations on providing Georgia with military aircraft are underway.
"More concrete negotiations are the next step of the partnership in this sphere. And currently, we are discussing the steps to be taken to strengthen our cooperation in ensuring Georgia's defensibility," the U.S. defense secretary stressed.
