Georgian government approves new rules for agricultural land sale to foreigners

Tbilisi, Georgia, Sept. 20
By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

The Georgian government has approved new rules for the agricultural land sale to foreigners.

The company founded abroad or other legal entity will be unable to buy agricultural land in accordance with the changes, Georgian Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani stated at the end of the governmental meeting.

"It will be possible to sell agricultural land to foreign physical entities or foreign companies, even if they were established in Georgia, in the five-kilometer line along the border of the country and in the zones established by the government," Tsulukiani added.

But the foreigners who will receive land by inheritance will become owners.

"This will allow many compatriots, deprived of Georgian citizenship, but having the citizenship of another country and considered foreigners now, to get the inherited land," the minister added.
