The Tbilisi City Court rejected the petition of lawyers and left the former mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava under arrest.
The lawyers urged to change the measure of restraint for the ex-mayor and to release him on 20,000 lari bail.
The prosecutor's office said that if Ugulava is released, there is a risk that the former mayor can go into hiding abroad.
The prosecutors also believe that in case of his releasing, Ugulava may influence witnesses and can commit a new crime.
Ugulava is accused of the illegal sale of Imedi TV Company and Rike territory (center of Tbilisi).
