Georgia’s trade turnover with Turkey increases

Georgia’s trade turnover with Turkey from January through September 2021 amounted to $1.4 billion, compared to $1.1 billion over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

Thus, Turkey remained the top Georgian trade turnover partner over first 9 months of 2021, followed by Russia ($1.1 billion) and China ($1 billion).

Turkey’s share accounted for 14.8 percent of the total foreign trade turnover of Georgia over first 9 months of 2021, compared to 13.8 percent in the reporting period of 2020.

Georgian exports to Turkey from January through September 2021, accounting to 7.8 percent of total exports, increased by 63.4 percent to $233.2 million, compared to $142.7 million over the same period of 2020.

Georgian imports from Turkey over first 9 months of 2021, accounting to 17.7 percent of the total imports, increased by 26.9 percent to $1.2 billion, compared to $982 million over the reporting period of 2020.

Turkey remained the top partner of Georgia by imports, followed by Russia ($718.8 million) and China ($599.9 million).
