Georgia shares data on number of credit cards in circulation

The number of credit cards in circulation in Georgia in January 2022 amounted to 582,513, which is an increase of 5.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 (552,337), Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

However, the same figure decreased by 0.5 percent, compared to December 2021 (585,454), the report said.

According to the NBG, the volume of EC/MC credit cards in the reporting period of 2022 totaled 109,172, which is a decrease of 24.1 percent, compared to the same month of 2021 (143,920), and 2.4 percent, compared to December 2021 (111,933).

The number of VISA credit cards in January 2022 amounted to 160,522 - a decrease of 21 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 (203,368), and 3.2 percent, compared to December 2021 (165,988).

Meanwhile, the total number of plastic cards in circulation in Georgia in January 2022 amounted to 6.8 million, which is an increase of 1.4 percent, compared to the same month of 2021 (6.7 million).
