BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 19. Money transfers from Georgia in February 2022 amounted to $26.7 million, which is an increase of 27 percent, compared to $20.9 million over the same month of 2021, Trend reports via National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
According to the report, the same figure also increased by 23 percent, compared to $21.7 million over February 2020, and by 14.5 percent, compared to $23.3 million in January 2021.
Among main destinations for money transfers from Georgia Russia ranked first with $6.2 million, followed by Turkey ($5.4 million), and Ukraine ($2.4 million).
The total volume of remittances from Georgia from January through February 2022 totaled $50 million, the report said.
Meanwhile, the volume of money transfers to Georgia in February 2022 amounted to $183.4 million, which is an increase of 13.7 percent, compared to $161.3 million over the same month of 2021, and 33.5 percent, compared to February 2020 ($137.3 million).
