BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. French Development Agency (AFD) has provided Georgian Railway JSC with a grant in the amount of 500,000 euros for technical assistance and sustainable development, Trend reports via the press service of Georgian Railway.
According to the agreement, the main objectives of the project are bringing Georgia’s railway transport sector in line with the EU regulations, and expanding the investment and freight markets.
In order to properly implement the goals under the project the investment plan will be prepared as well, and French experts will arrive in Georgia to consult relevant agencies.
The mission will start in April 2022 and will last about 12-18 months.
AFD is a French public financial institution that provides financial support for projects worldwide and cooperates with financial institutions such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
