BAKU. Azerbaijan. August 11. About 500 medical workers have been killed and hundreds injured in the Gaza Strip as a result of the military operation carried out by Israel since October last year, Trend reports, citing to TASS.
In the Palestinian enclave, 130 ambulances were destroyed by Israeli strikes. Attacks on medical infrastructure in the Gaza Strip have deprived local residents of access to basic medical services, while poor water supply and sanitation conditions have led to an increase in premature deaths. Attacks on medical facilities and doctors are also taking place in the West Bank, where more than 340 such incidents have been reported.
The death toll in Gaza as a result of Israeli military actions since October last year has risen to 39,790, with 92,002 people injured.
The situation in the Middle East has sharply escalated since the penetration of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, accompanied by the murder of residents of border settlements and the taking of numerous hostages. In response, Israel announced a complete blockade of Gaza and began to strike it and certain areas of Lebanon and Syria, after which it began a ground operation in the enclave. Clashes are also taking place on the West Bank of the Jordan River.
