At least 10 countries in the Middle East decided Tuesday night that the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan will start on Wednesday, dpa reported.

At least 10 countries in the Middle East decided Tuesday night that the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan will start on Wednesday, dpa reported.

The decision was first adopted by Saudi Arabia's legal moon sighting panel, with other Arab and Islamic countries following suit.

Middle East countries celebrating the start of Ramadan on Wednesday so far are Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Lebanon, Yemen, Libya, the Palestinian Authority and Turkey.

More Arab and Muslim states were expected to follow the Saudi lead.
