Yemeni security authorities on Thursday arrested five Pakistanis involved in disseminating al- Qaida ideology and inciting Yemeni people to hatred and killing non-Muslims, Xinhua reported according to the statement of the local Interior Ministry.
The five Pakistani nationals, aged between 27 and 65, were arrested in a suburb of the capital Sanaa, said the statement.
The statement, which posted on the ministry's website, said security authorities also arrested another five Yemenis who were guiding the Pakistanis through the area.
All arrested are being under investigation by the Yemeni police to probe deeply into the motivations behind such illegal activities, the statement added.
The Yemeni government has intensified security operations and air raids against terrorist groups, after the Yemen-based al-Qaida wing claimed responsibility for a failed Christmas Day attempt to blow up a U.S. passenger plane bound for Detroit last year.
