The Arab League called on the United Nations Security Council to impose a no-fly zone over Libya, Egyptian state media reported.
Arab foreign ministers, with the exception of the ministers of Syria and Algeria, agreed to call for the no-fly zone over the North African country during an emergency meeting in Cairo, state-run news website Egynews reported.
Amr Moussa, secretary general of the Arab League, was expected to deliver a press statement in the evening, dpa reported.
