Slovenian Deputy Foreign Minister Simona Leskovar reaffirmed her country’s support for the 2015 nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), IRNA reports.
In a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador in Ljubljana Kazem Shafe’I on Wednesday, she referred to the meeting of the two countries’ foreign ministers on the sidelines of the 73rd session of United Nations General Assembly in New York, saying the her country welcomes continuation and strengthening of political talks between the two countries.
Iran’s ambassador, for his part, expressed pleasure with principled and transparent stances of the Slovenian officials on the nuclear deal, especially following US exit from the deal, and called for practical and plausible support by the EU, particularly Slovenia as an EU member, for the JCPOA.
Slovenia gained independence from former Yugoslavia in 1991 and currently it is a member of NATO.
It is located in southern Central Europe and its capital and largest city is Ljubljana.
