Azeri Elected to Ukrainian Parliament

Ukraine, Kiev / Тrend corr Z. Novosvitski /Azerbaijani, Oleg Babayev, a member of the Bloc of Yulia Timoshenko (BYT), was elected to the Ukrainian Parliament. According to official data, BYT has 156 seats in the Parliament. Babayev was 109th in BYT's electoral roll.

Oleg Babayev, 42, has a higher education and is the President of 'Vorskla' ( Poltava) football club. He lives in Kremenchug, in the region of Poltava.

Another Azerbaijani, Eduard Zeynalov, also has a good chance of entering Parliament. He was 76th in the electoral roll of the Bloc Our Ukraine-Public Self-defence, which has 72 seats in Parliament. According to experts, the bloc will be included in the parliamentary coalition and representatives of the bloc will be appointed to governmental positions. According to Ukrainian law, in this case they will have to abdicate from MP positions. Their seats will be filled by new MPs in compliance with the electoral roll.

Three more Azerbaijanis, besides Babayev Zeynalov, nominated themselves for the early parliamentary elections in Ukraine, but failed to win seats in Parliament.
