( dpa ) - Germany condemned Sunday's suicide bombing that left 80 dead and dozens injured in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar.
A statement released by the foreign ministry urged Afghans to forgo violence and join in efforts towards the reconstruction of their war-torn nation.
"Those behind the attack need to be caught and brought to justice," Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said in the statement.
He said such acts of violence would not deter the international community in its commitment to helping the people of Afghanistan.
The governor of Kandahar province said the suicide bomber detonated his explosives in a crowd of people gathered in the western part of the city to watch a dog fight, a popular pastime in Afghanistan.
