A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt blew himself up near the offices of the Democratic Party of Kurdistan in Mosul, police told the Voices of Iraq VOI news agency.
Two policemen and seven civilians were wounded.
A party official told VOI that the bomber was trying to enter the party offices when he was stopped by the guard, which prompted the bomber to blow himself up.
Mosul has recently seen a surge in violence, which is mainly blamed on Sunni insurgents linked to the al-Qaeda terrorist network.
