Indian president to visit Mexico in April

Mexico's Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday the visit of the Indian President Pratibha Patil in mid-April. ( dpa )

Patil's visit to Mexico April 16-20 will be the first by an Indian president in more then 20 years.

She will meet the Mexican President Felipe Calderon, with whom she will discuss "cooperation," the official ministry statement said.

The Indian president will also participate in a session of the Mexican Congress, meet members of the Supreme Court of Justice and visit the state of Jalisco.

Both governments hope reach a greater understanding in political and economic issues.
