Dick Advocaat will renew his contract as coach of UEFA Cup champions Zenit St Petersburg, the club said on its website on Friday, reported dpa.

The 51-year-old Advocaat came to St Petersburg in 2006 and led them to the Russian title in 2007. The club featuring top star Andrei Arshavin then won the UEFA Cup in May.

St Petersburg rank only fifth this season and can not defend the title anymore as they trail leaders Kazan by 17 points with four rounds left. But Advocaat said the club will aim for the title again next year.

Advocaat's future at the club was in doubt as he was reportedly home sick and allegedly had offers from other leagues such as England's Premier League.
