Spain suffered its first avalanche victim of
the year when a 24-year-old man was killed in the Sierra de Guadarrama
mountains north of the capital Madrid.
The reports said the body of the man was recovered by rescue teams at an
altitude of some 2,000 metres. Authorities had previously sounded avalanche
warnings for the area where the man was killed, dpa
