Eight killed in Morocco home collapses after heavy rain

Eight people were killed overnight in Morocco after torrential rains caused the collapse of their homes, World Bulletin reported on Tuesday, referring to th state news agency MAP.

Four family members were killed when their home gave way in Beni Imougzen village in the northern Al Hoceima province.

In the central area of Taroudant, a 36-year-old mother and a son died under the rubble of their house as they slept, MAP said, quoting local authorities and emergency services.

A 72-year-old man and his daughter, 12, were killed in a similar incident at Douar al Fakhara hamlet in the southern region of Marrakech, it said.

Morocco has been hit by heavy rains and storms since last week.
