US have not received any formal communication from Kyrgyzstan of any decisions to close Manas air base, dpa reported.
In Washington, US State Department deputy spokesman Robert Wood told reporters that the United States was in discussions with Kyrgyzstan but had not been formally told the base had to be closed.
"We have not received any formal communication from the Kyrgyz authorities of any decisions to close the base," Wood said. "But as I initially said, we're having discussions with the Kyrgyz about this and we'll continue to do so."
The Kyrgyz government's decision on the base must still be approved by parliament, which is expected to take up the issue Thursday.
