Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness refused to comment Saturday on reports that former Germany international Rudi Voeller was being seen as his possible successor, dpa reported.

German dailies Express and BZ reported Saturday that Voeller, who led Germany as coach to the final of the 2002 World Cup, was a "top candidate" for the job as sports director at Bayern.

The reports said first talks between the club and Voeller, currently sports director at Bayer Leverkusen, had begun.

Hoeness said ahead of Bayern's Bundesliga match against Cologne that the club would be making no comment on the issue of his successor.

Hoeness will be replacing Franz Beckenbauer as president and supervisory board chairman of the club at the end of the year.
