Clear success has been made in establishing democratic institutes in Afghanistan in recent years, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said at the conference dedicated to challenges in Afghanistan, Al Jazeera reported.

Cooperation with other countries is important to make positive changes in the country's socio-economic life, he said.

"We will use every chance to build a reliable government," Karzai added.

A key task of the Afghan government is to combat corruption.

In recent years, Afghan officials were arrested and punished for corruption, Karzai said.

The conference is being held in the Hague with the attendance of 72 countries.

The conference is being held by the U.S. and Netherlands with the participation of the UN.

Foreign ministers of nations participating in rebuilding Afghanistan were invited, as well as representatives of international organizations, NATO, and donor states providing financial assistance to the country.
