In mid-May, President of Turkey Abdullah Gul will pay an official visit to Syria together with senior officials of the Turkish government, the Al-Sharq Al-Ausat newspaper said.
The main topic of discussion during the visit will be a joint cooperation between the two countries in addressing regional security issues and advancing the peace process in the Middle East.
New documents in the development of cooperation in the fields of economy, tourism, investment and culture will be signed.
Information about Turkish president's visit to Syria became known on Monday after the Turkish-Syrian joint military exercises on Syria and Turkey borders, which were aimed at strengthening military and aviation cooperation between the two countries and providing air and ground safety, Al-Sharq Al-Ausat said.
However, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak expressed concern about the Israeli government regarding joint military exercises of Damascus and Ankara, and stated that this matter will be dealt with the Turkish side, Jerusalem Post said.
