Protesting the arrest of 15 locals by the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Afghans in Uruzgan province have staged demonstration and demanded to release the compatriots, a local newspaper reported Tuesday.
"The demonstration took place in Uruzgan's provincial capital Trinkot on Monday, in the wake of the arrest of 15 locals,"the daily 8Subh reported.
A tribal elder Mira Jan, according to the newspaper, in his speech condemned what he said arbitrary operation of the international troops and warned if the arrested men are not released they would boycott the coming August 20 presidential elections, Xinhua reported.
Operations by the U.S. and the NATO-led peacekeeping force ( ISAF) against Taliban and al-Qaida operatives sometime harmed the non-combatants in Afghanistan.
