Afghan president leaves for Russia to attend SCO summit

Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Monday left for the Russian Federation to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, a statement released by his office here said.
  
"The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, left this morning for Russia to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, to be held in the city of Yekaterinburg," the statement added, Xinhua reported.
  
In addition to delivering a speech at the summit, the Afghan leader during his two-day visit would meet his counterparts from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan and exchange views on matters pertaining enhancing regional cooperation in the war on terror, counternarcotics and economic cooperation.
